What this is, and what is lawful
Reading the metadata of a file you hold is lawful: it is information inside the file, and this page reads it on your device without sending anything to us or anyone else. What you then do with it is subject to the law where you are — in the EU and Switzerland a photo of a person, and a precise location linked to a person, are personal data (GDPR, FADP): collecting or publishing them needs a legal basis. Do not use the tool to locate or follow people. Metadata can be edited or forged; treat it as a lead to corroborate, not as proof.
